The AOASM is the oldest primary care based sports medicine specialty. It was formed in 1976 to fulfill the mission of a branch of the healing arts profession which utilizes a holistic, comprehensive approach to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of sport and exercise-related injuries, disorders, dysfunctions and disease processes. The organization holds monthly webinars where physicians currently in the profession speak on their experiences and field questions for those considering this field. At LECOM Seton Hill, we have hosted events in the past such as an OMS-I vs OMS-II flag football game, shadowing Seton Hill Football’s Sports Medicine Physician, Intramural sports leagues, and so much more!
